Project management consists in applying knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet stakeholders’ needs. Project management allows organisations to execute projects in an effective and efficient way, e.g. product development and marketing, process improvement, industrialisation and ramp-up, meeting business goals, optimising resource use, etc.
Project manager has a key role of integrator, which is very complementary with the philosophy of “Generalist engineer”. The need to be knowledgeable in project management is reinforced by jobs evolution mainly in the Industry 4.0 context (e.g. cognitive skills, technology management, etc.).
