Course Director(s):

  • FLECK Julia
  • General Description:

    The Personalised Medicine and Healthcare specialisation aims to provide engineers with a full range of knowledge necessary to envisage a profession in the health sector. The central theme, Personalised Medicine, will enable students to contemplate the health and medicine systems of tomorrow, in particular by dealing with the essential aspects of e-medicine, personalised implants, care pathways, and telemedicine. Innovation is at the core of this course, to provide the keys to important sectors of tomorrow’s health engineering.

    Links between course units:

    The Personalised Medicine and Healthcare specialisation is composed of four units enabling the student to follow the central theme of personalised care for patients in the 21st century:

    • Personalised implants with the contributions of biomaterials and tissue engineering.
    • Personalised diagnosis and forecasts: scientific methods for modelling the state of health of patients, planning future care protocols and operations in particular.
    • Patient pathways and digital health domains: monitoring, assessment and telemedicine.
    • Innovation in the health sector enabling the student to have a global vision of the health engineering landscape and hence all the keys to develop his own activity in the health sector.

    Orientations / Associations with other courses:

    Depending on the student’s professional project, the Personalised Medicine and Healthcare specialisation is in phase with the following majors:

    • Mechanical engineering,
    • Materials Science,
    • Industrial Engineering,
    • Health and Biomedical engineering

    but also with the Toolboxes providing supplementary knowledge (such as Imaging, Decision Support Tools…).

    The introductory course in health engineering is also closely linked to the specialisation, providing students with complementary aspects of the health environment.
