General Description:
The “Networks” Toolbox aims to provide by practical means general knowledge concerning the functioning of communication media such as the internet, which are used of course massively today.
The Toolbox is an introduction to network architecture and the ways in which different services are diffused to ensure proper functioning.
Links between course units:
- The “Introduction and programming of computer networks” unit serves to familiarise students with the general concepts such as addresses (physical and IP) and the configuration of a computer to participate in a network. Also covered is network programming by which students will discover the fundamentals of client-server architecture by developing an original communication tool.
- The "Architecture of the Internet” unit involves students in groups of four putting into place their own networks by developing the equivalent of an Internet box as supplied by service access providers. They will then enrich this box by adding several services.
Orientations / Associations with other courses:
The “Networks” course provides interesting clarification for the understanding of problems encountered in modern computing (distribution, security ..)
