A first introduction session will enable to present the computer-aided design and slicing.
Then, in addition to the practical works and the challenge, this UP will allow to deepen different points thanks to conferences and courses.
Two conferences will present two additive manufaturing processes for metallic materials: WAAM and SLM.
During 3 sessions of courses/tutorials, the 3D processes will be presented, with a special focus on the materials to print.
The processes available for each family of materials (polymers, metals, ceramics) will be presented. The link will be made with the main characteristics of these materials (definition, main properties, conventional processes of fabrication).
A special emphasis will be made about the difficulties linked to the adaptation of processes from polymers to ceramics and metals (links with the properties of these materials).
On completion of the unit, the student will be capable of: | Classification level | Priority |
---|---|---|
Knowing the different processes available for each type of materials | 1. Knowledge | Essential |
Understanding the influence of the materials for the processes | 2. Understand | Important |
