  • General Description:

We are surrounded by electronics, invading all sectors of our lives every day. It is essential for engineering students on the ISMIN course to i) understand how they operate, ii) to formulate and iii) characterise these types of electronic devices and systems. This course group, placed at the start of the training (Semester 5), provides the basic foundations and tools for understanding such electronic systems.

On completion of the course students will know the operating principles of basic semi-conductor components in analogue electronics and will have acquired the bases of combinatorial logic, sequential with the application of classic digital functions and circuits used in the majority of integrated circuits.

    Links between course units:

This Course Group is composed of two course units; 1) Analogue electronics and 2) Digital electronics, dividing modern electronics into two main (but not exhaustive) application fields.

Orientations / Associations with other courses:

During the 1st year of the ISMIN Engineers cycle the course is directly linked with the Robot project and is in continuity with the analogue and digital electronics courses in Semester 6.

In longer term perspectives (2nd and 3rd year studies) this course will help students to deal with the operating, formulation and practical application of embedded electronic systems, cryptography, the Internet of Things, microelectronics, …
